Tablet PCs are mobile computers or notebooks that are equipped with a touchscreen. With the use of a stylus pen, one can scribble or even draw on its touchscreen making tablet PCs very handy when thinking of replacing regular notepads. Such feature makes it easy to interact with electronic documents in a manner close to using regular pen/pencil and paper (e.g. one can circle a certain point of interest on a digital image).
To bring the advantages of tablet PCs to healthcare, manufacturers have built them to rugged specifications so these PCs perform as expected in a critical and busy healthcare environment. Nowadays all tablet PCs in a hospital must be rugged, withstand humidity and liquid spillage, as well as knocks and drops. These featuers are not usually found on consumer Tablet PCs.
